Umdat al-Muhtaj ila Sharh al-Minhaj 1 - 16 Umdat al-Muhtaj ila Sharh al-Minhaj by Imam Ibn al-Mulaqqin (804 AH) one of the important commentaries on "Minhaj al-Talibin" by Imam al-Nawawi, especially since its commentator, may Allah have mercy on him, compiled his commentary from a summary of Imam al-Rafi'i's words in "al-Kabir" then "al-Saghir" and from al-Nawawi's words in "Sharh al-Muhadhdhab" and "al-Rawdah" and other books of theirs and what Ibn al-Rifi'a added to them in his "Kafayah" and "Matlabuhu" with additional benefits from scattered remarks of the jurists attributed to their speakers or narrators along with mention of the remaining positions of the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence on the issue. The commentator, may Allah have mercy on him, was concerned with clarifying the evidence of the issue and what relates to the wordings of the book in terms of languages and rare words and vocalization of its wording and tracking sixteen aspects of objections to the author's words, may Allah have mercy on him, which he mentioned in his introduction. Ibn Khatib al-Nasiriyyah said in "al-Durr al-Muntakhab": Several works were written on "al-Minhaj" by al-Nawawi, he wrote two commentaries: a long one which he named "Umdat al-Muhtaj" and an abridged one which he named "Ajalt al-Muhtaj" and al-Ghazi said in "Bahjat al-Nazirin" about Ibn al-Mulaqqin: He composed early on during the lifetime of his teachers and his "Commentary on al-Minhaj" the great one named "al-Umdah" became famous and a group of his contemporaries heard it from him, and some of them wrote it and his fame became widespread.
